Great hammerhead sharks are critically endangered. This is in part due to how prized their large fins are and sport fishing. They use these large fins as wings and foils underwater and are extremely agile compared to other sharks. The Bahamas is a shark sanctuary by law and they enjoy protection in the crystal clear water, but are still prone to being fished and killed once they leave in the warmer months.
